Miles That Matter

Join us for Miles That Matter, a student-led 5K Run/Walk and free community festival on Sunday, September 21st at Truckee River Regional Park. Proceeds will support girls in Tanzania with menstrual health products and the EmpowerHER Workbook, giving them the tools to stay in school and build their futures with confidence.

About Miles That Matter

  • Date 21 September 2025

  • Time Race starts at 9am, Festival starts at 10am

  • Location Truckee River Regional Park

  • Run 5k on the Legacy Trail (out and back course)

  • Festival Local vendors, women-owned brands, food, music, raffle, and community fun.

  • Registration donation $40 - supports 2 girls in receiving both a menstrual cup and a workbook; $20 supports 1 girl.

Why It Matters

  • Keeps girls in school all year by removing menstrual health barriers

  • Breaks the stigma around menstruation

  • Builds leadership, self-worth, and economic opportunities for girls in Moshi, Tanzania

  • Promotes global sisterhood through education, sustainability and empowerment

  • Empowers girls to attend school year round with confidence

  • Helps girls understand and embrace changes in their bodies without shame

  • Teaches girls to make products, manage money and become financially independent 

  • Builds self-confidence and leadership skills
