Be Sensitive, Be Brave – For Mental Health

This mental health workshop prepares community members to help friends and loved ones during times of distress. Learn how to recognize mental health conditions, what to do when someone needs support, and tools for maintaining good mental health.

Delivery: Workshops are presented in-person or virtually with interactive breakout groups.

Audience: Designed for helpers for all ages: children, adolescents, adults, & older adults. Approximately 15-40 participants per session.

Training Time: 2-hour workshop

Goals:

  • Identify if someone is in mental distress

  • Practice being sensitive and brave in helping others

  • Increase awareness of mental health resources

  • Build resilience using a recipe for mental health

  • Build cultural sensitivity around mental health

  • Respond to community needs and decrease stigma

This evidence-based training was developed by Community Connections Psychological Associates Inc., based on empirical research about culture, diversity, suicide prevention, and mental health.

BSBB has been translated and adapted to be delivered in other languages as well including: Spanish, Chinese, Vietnamese, Tongan, Tagalog, Korean and soon to be more!
