On Suicide Awareness Day, the Truckee Police Department shared a message encouraging anyone struggling with mental health to reach out for help.

The department wrote, “At the Truckee Police Department, protecting and serving our community means more than safety, it means caring for your mental health.”

In a Truckee Police Facebook post it says, call the Nevada County Crisis Line at 530-265-5811 or call/text the National Crisis and Suicide Lifeline at 9-8-8 to connect with a trained mental health professional."

The department added, "Every conversation can make a difference. Together, we can break the silence, offer hope, and save lives.”
