National Physician Suicide Awareness Day & Suicide Prevention Awareness Month
Each year, National Physician Suicide Awareness (NPSA) Day is observed on September 17. This day serves as a vital reminder to pause, reflect, and take meaningful action to ensure that physicians’ struggles do not become mental health emergencies. It’s also part of the broader recognition of September as National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month—a time to raise awareness, share resources, and strengthen community support for those impacted by suicide.
For the past several years, the Ada County Medical Society (ACMS) has worked to highlight NPSA Day and make resources more accessible for healthcare providers. This year, ACMS has created a September 2025 calendar filled with daily, practical actions that healthcare professionals can take to support their colleagues and help reshape the culture of medicine.
